Qigong Fundamentals

Qigong is an energy cultivation practice. Qi (pronounced “Chi”) means vital energy and Gong means to cultivate.

Qigong is a branch of Chinese Medicine where slow, gentle and repetitive movements are practiced in order to warm tendons, ligaments, and muscles; tonify vital organs and connective tissue; and promote circulation of body fluids (blood, synovial, lymph).

The smooth and gentle nature of Qigong also helps to support the central nervous system by activating the parasympathetic state (rest and digest), aiding in our ability to mentally and physically recover from the daily stress and stimuli of the fast paces world around us, and its affects over our general wellbeing.

Join Dan for a 6 week course where you will learn the fundamentals of Qigong and develop a sustainable and life-long practice. All abilities are welcome, and There is even the option to do chair based forms and practices for those who are less mobile or are dealing with chronic health issues that might impede strength and energy levels.

Winter Slumber: A Yin and Yoga Nidra workshop.

Winter can be one of the hardest months. Our bodies are calling for deep rest to replenish our essence and reserves, so that we have the deep nourishment to support the rising energy that follows in Spring. It is a time for reflection and replenishment, yet our modern lives and festive traditions can leave us feeling distracted, overstimulated, and drained.

In this cosy workshop we will be re-connecting to our bodies and listening to the messaging and whispers of bodily sensation and energy through the practice of Yin Yoga. We will then hibernate into deep sleepy restoration through Yoga Nidra (guided rest/sleep), to help our bodies and nervous-systems feel more balanced and able to rest.  Although bolsters, blankets and props will be available, please feel free to bring your favourite, comfiest, snuggliest items from home to really help you feel hugged and comforted through the practice.
